It is one of those days and will continue being one of those days until the temperature drops and/or I get a new computer…probably both as my computer is very flaky at present and it’s not entirely due to the weather.

I’ve put a thermometer near the fan outlet and when it reaches just over 30° Celsius the computer turns off with no warning, I get between 20 minutes and an hour depending on the temperature outside so I need to be very focussed on what I’m doing and not spend that short time playing games, you can guess what I was doing this morning.

It’s a laptop as for the first few years of my computer owning life I needed the portability, now I think I need stability so I’ll be replacing it with a desktop, I’d like to say it’ll have more grunt and more of everything but in reality laptops and desktops have fewer differences than they used to have. Now I can buy a laptop that can do everything a desktop can do for very little more, I’m still going for a desktop as I view desktops as having the stability I’m looking for.

When will I buy it? Can’t say, some time between now and six months time as it depends on finances and how much it annoys me to only be able to have a short time on the computer before letting it cool down. I am getting lots of other stuff done and finding the limitations on the apps on the iPad as I attempt to do the same work on the iPad as I’ve been doing on the computer.

One of the things I’m getting done is the props for my costume for the next Australian Discworld Convention, it’s in two weeks so getting them done is a good thing. If all goes well the stuff that takes the longest will be done by this weekend. The problem there is I’ve picked up some more work and may find myself time poor.
