I’ve chosen Élisabeth Vonarburg for today’s article for two reasons, first of all she’s French and I haven’t written about any French people yet and the second is because she has a beautiful face with eyes that say something to me but I can’t figure out what. Have a look at her Wikipedia page and see if you can figure it out.

Born in Paris but now living in Quebec, Canada she was the literary director of the French-Canadian science fiction magazine Solaris. Vonarburg has received over thirty awards including a Philip K. Dick Award special award and has had dissertations and articles written about her works.

Tyranaël: Dreams of the Sea is one of her most important works, this is just the first book and it’s fairly expensive so I understand if you won’t buy it here.

If you can get hold of FemSpec Vol 11, Issue 2, 2011 you’ll find the theme of this issue is  Vonarburg. They’ve printed an interview with her in both French and English, I understand she’s talented in both languages having translated from English to French. It also has a couple of essays about her and one by her.
