Having done the year in review I should really do the year in advance or a preview or some sort of plans or something. You understand this is going to be a purely gratuitous article full of words that may or may not make sense and sentences that should receive a sentence purely because they make sense in some other time frame or alternate world.

Christmas is not my celebration but this year it is as if it is (trying to get as many two letter words in a row as possible) and I’ve been almost as busy as many people celebrating Christmas. It is a very silly thing but that is what seems to have happened and I have no articles planned for the rest of the year. I’ve put in a placeholder for Thursday in case I don’t get a real article written and that may have to do except for Karen’s Mondayitis on Tuesday. Thank you Karen!

So, my thoughts for my year

This year I joined Writer’s Victoria. Not because I feel I have any stories or writing other than my blog waiting to spring from my fingertips but because I want to associate with more writers, I want to attend some classes and improve my writing, and I want to consider the possibility that one day I might possibly entertain the topic of stringing some words together to make a short story…or even a long story. I’ve decided I shouldn’t be the one to decide if I have writing skills and will leave that to someone else to consider having actually read some of my sentences strung together.

I have a number of ebooks to get through while things are quiet over the next week or two. I also have a wish to reduce my physical To Be Read pile by a little more than smidgeon only to be able to add books that haven’t made it there as there’s no space…physically, no space…the books reach the shelf above.

The plan for the year though includes many more books and book type challenges. I’m going to finish Alphabet by Author focussing on male science fiction authors before moving onto female science fiction authors, I may continue on with another series but that will be 2016 and I’m not going to plan that far in advance.

I’m going to have more lunches with business friends and start attending more networking sessions. I have both planned, I just have to book the networking sessions and ensure I’ve put my lunches in my diary.

I’m going to continue scanning and shredding documents we no longer need to hold in hard copy. I’ve already gone through about one and a half drawers in my filing cabinet, reducing the papers to a tiny fraction but have a lot more to do.

I will be continuing to do markets with Ginger Ale endeavouring to corrupt many people’s taste buds and convert them to the goodness that is the particular brand of Ginger Ale I sell. I promise to expand my repertoire of bad jokes so repeat buyers aren’t subjected to the same ones each time. I don’t promise not to sing, but I’ll try to keep the noise level to a minimum.

One of the things I’ve been wanting to do for a while is increase my SendOutCards business. I’m taking some big steps in this over the next couple of weeks. I’ll be doing some more expos and presenting to whoever is interested. If that is you please contact me and we can talk.

Looking at my website makes me feel changes are needed here too. I should have some more time in winter and I’m going to spend the next few months going through some notes I’ve been making to do some research and answer various questions. By winter I hope to be in a position to either commission someone to create a new theme or take a theme and modify it myself.

I will continue the diet I’m on. I don’t weigh myself often but I think I’ve lost five or six kilos in the last few months, I have a lot more to go and will be happy to make the same sort of progress by this time next year. Weight goes on slowly so should go off slowly.

Basically, I have one or two plans for the coming year. They’re not new year resolutions as I don’t do those, but they are plans. In most cases I’ve already started and need to continue the work or consolidate what I’ve already done. There’s a lot I haven’t mentioned such as backing more projects via crowdfunding, putting more money into Kiva to help others help themselves, entertaining more often, family stuff, funerals that are bound to happen and other things I’m not going to bore you with as I notice I’ve written well over 800 words with this self indulgent stuff.

In making all this about me I’m acknowledging I have little control over others and need to exert control over my life in order to improve myself and only myself.
