Does Squid Ink have an ear for the Aye-Aye to examine?
Sitting on Squid Ink is an Aye-Aye

Squid Ink was entranced some time ago while listening to The Aye-Aye and I by Gerald Durrell, it’s a wonderful story of his travels to Madagascar where he meets the Aye-Aye.

The Aye-Aye is a sweet little lemur with long slender fingers and the image that remains from the book is that of Gerald Durrell sitting there with an Aye-Aye on his head while the animal carefully examines his ear with it’s finger. Durrell was concerned about his ear drum but the little animal was so careful nothing happened.

While I don’t have this particular book available for sale I do have Beasts in My Belfry by Durrell and a couple of books by his older brother, Lawrence, you can find them all here.
