My brilliantly aptly distractingly named new series continues. Where I randomly select two books from my shelves and attempt to find a link. I do not promise it will be a good link, only that it will be a link. It might be anything at all. One thing I do promise is that the link will not be due to the books both containing words such as ‘and’ or ‘the’, although having said that it’d be really awesome to now find two books totally missing both of those words.

The books I chose last week were Scary! 2 edited by Peter Haining and Tangram: The ancient Chinese shapes game by Joost Elffers. Stay tuned to find out if I’ve actually got a link.

The Books

Scary! 2 is another anthology edited by my favourite, Peter Haining. It’s not that old, only from 2002. It’s got stories from some of my favourite authors including Anne McCaffrey, Bram Stoker and Neil Gaiman.

Tangram: The ancient Chinese shapes game is a book I have no idea why I have on my shelf. I can’t do these things too well. I do recall buying it somewhere or other. If you know nothing about Tangrams then this would be a good book for you. It has information about how they work and then many, many diagrams.

The Link

Essentially what we have here are two puzzle books. One is a puzzle of words which must somehow fit together to create a theme. The other is a puzzle of puzzles with each shape needing to fit together in order to make an entirely different shape.

Next Week!

Next week we have some interesting books. Out of the Silent Planet by C. S. Lewis and Primary Colors by Anonymous. Every week I wonder if this pair of books will be the one that breaks me. Every single week since I began this strange series 46 weeks ago. I’ve decided I’m determined to get through a whole year; I only need a few more weeks. Therefore, next week will be a doddle I have decided this but I have no ideas today.
