On this day I really should be writing something about Carrie Fisher or Richard Adams, but my feelings are a bit raw at present. Instead I’m continuing on with my normal scheduled article and will revisit both of them at some later stage. It was not a good day to wake up.

My brilliantly aptly named new series continues. Where I randomly select two books from my shelves and attempt to find a link. I do not promise it will be a good link, only that it will be a link. It might be anything at all. One thing I do promise is that the link will not be due to the books both containing words such as ‘and’ or ‘the’, although having said that it’d be really awesome to now find two books totally missing both of those words.

The books I chose last week were The Wind’s Twelve Quarters by Ursula K. Le Guin and Arthur Daley’s Guide to Doing it Right! by Leon Griffiths. Stay tuned to find out if I’ve actually got a link.

The Books

The Wind’s Twelve Quarters by Ursula K. Le Guin is collection of short stories by the critically acclaimed master of science fiction. Le Guin is one of the all time greats and these are just eight of her brilliant short stories.

The Wind’s Twelve Quarters by Ursula K. Le Guin

is a spinoff from the popular British series Minder. Arthur Daley was the con artist who made his money from hiring out his minder, Terry, as well as other slightly dodgy practices. This could be construed as his manual.

The Link

Today’s link? Both of these books are fiction with some basis in fact. Le Guin’s writing is highly based on science fiction with some imaginery stuff in their while Griffith’s book is an illustration on how some people have made their money.

Next Week!

Next week will be incredibly challenging but I’ll do my best or worst. We’ve got National Velvet by Enid Bagnold and  Doctor in the Nest by Richard Gordon. Stay tuned to find out if I’ve actually got a link. I promise I’ll try to be entertaining.
