When will she learn? New people on our island is never a good thing and she should stop inviting them. Or at least stop showing them new places she finds. Nim thought it was such a good cave it could have waited until everyone had gone, caves don’t go away like that. She had to show those young people and then other people saw and things happened.

I wasn’t happy with those bats coming out, they’re normally out at night when I’m sleeping so they don’t bother me. They came swooping out, mums and babies together just before that loud noise. Nim wasn’t happy about that noise, she said she’d made it and it destroyed something special. I only care as she does, the only special is our relationship.

Between us Fred and I spend a lot of time looking after Nim, she doesn’t seem to have much sense. Going into caves where there’s no sun for Fred and where I can’t get in to help her. A good thing she was able to get that young person down to the water, she needed lots of help getting to a safe place so Nim put her on my back so I can swim her there quickly.

I can be very scary when I want but most of the time I’m just happy to be with Nim. I had to be my scariest with those people, they thought they were going to get away but they’d upset Nim so I made my best noises at them and scared them back off the beach and into the shade. That’s the best place for them, don’t want them in my water.

These people don’t seem to be quite as comfortable in the water as me and sometimes they need me to take them places, this was a case in point. Her lower flipper looked very big, much too big and it looked very uncomfortable.
