This is a useful little book. It was written in the early 1990s so is a bit old and the information maybe a little out of date but I still think it’s useful. It is less than 100 jam packed pages full of information about menopause and the ageing process. It has lots of information about calcium and how and why you should be taking it and talks a lot about osteoporosis. While the front cover states this book is for all women over the age of 35, I actually feel the first couple of chapters are useful for any age.

Dr Cabot does talk about HRT (Hormone Replacement Therapy), she seems to have a great fondness for it and she backs up her writing with case studies and data to support her fondness. Cabot spends a lot of time discussing hormones, what they are, how they control the body and how you can manipulate them with HRT. She details how HRT needs to be “tailor made” for each individual woman as we are all so different.

I found this book to be an easy read. Yes, it is technical but it’s all explained in terms that any layman can understand. I’m not at all scientiffic or technical and if I can understand it then everyone can.
