As my regular readers would know I made the decision to give up books, no, not for Lent. I will still be reading and blogging, probably even selling the odd one or two on eBay; the part-work magazines will stay with me for the forseeable future as I don’t want to run the risk of someone throwing them out.

It’s a long slow process while I wean myself off my books. My original estimate was that I had around 120 boxes of books, I’ve managed to dispose of 28 boxes…yes, I’m counting! Wow! I hear you saying! I’d like that to sound really good but you can’t actually see any difference in the numbers of boxes. There must have been far more than I estimated. I will be doing more markets and the odd garage sale, but I can see one day I’ll get really annoyed and I’ll just ring the Brotherhood of St Laurence and ask them to pick up 100 boxes. It’ll be really easy as they have the easiest number to remember and they’ll take anything, including encyclopedias and textbooks. The number? 1800 donate.

I won’t mention how I closed my eBay store on Friday night, I had two sales during the day, one paid directly by Paypal while the other paid using an eCheque also through Paypal. eCheques take a few days to clear and so I posted the other book yesterday only to realise a few hours later I’d used the wrong address. Thank goodness the eCheque guy says he’ll send it straight back to me, I’ve sent his book on, together with another book, without waiting for clearance and I hope the first book comes back quickly. I think I’ll include another book in the parcel for the very patient buyer whose book is going on an extra trip.

There’s nothing like getting one of your last orders wrong. I’ve got 100% perfect feedback on eBay, I suspect this may see me getting a reduction in that. Seven years trading and I haven’t had a negative yet.
