You know those times when you neglect to take your own advice? That’s me, today. I tell everyone when they’re blogging to make a schedule and stick to it but today I completely forgot about it and so I’m running slightly late. It’s not the end of the world, but it is rather annoying.

Last week I was exceedingly excited to attend a zine launch. One of the perks of being at uni is that you get to join groups and the most important one I had to join was Deakin Writers. They put out publications and continually push people to submit stuff. Last week was a new publication called Haunted. I haven’t read every word as yet and as I’m far too over-committed it might have to wait until the break in February. What I have read is very good and I aspire to be that good.

While we were talking about the next publication something clicked and I had an idea that fits the theme. I was given paper so I could scribble it down and they’re now pushing me to finish and submit. If I do this it’ll be my first submission since high school when I was on the committee for the school magazine…

This is the magazine. Many things about this little publication. It illustrates that you don’t need to have quality printing or quality paper. Good things can come in many different sizes and shapes and I’ve spoken about this before.

That little scribble in the white? That’s the signature of the front cover designer. We spent time running backwards and forwards between the two tables getting all the authors to sign their words, so why not the people who did the other parts of the magazine? For many of them it was the first time they’d been asked to sign their work.

I loved how my friend, Christine, photobombed this one. I just had to put it in here for no other reason. Nothing else about the photo worked, except for the chips which worked at putting weight on my hips.
