In Jerusalem we stayed near a shopping mall called Cinema City. Our first trip there was an explosion of light and sound as they have cinemas there along with all the light, colour and advertisements they feel they need. We spent quite a bit of time there what with one meal and another as there were some decent restaurants who mostly seemed to understand my food challenges and catered appropriately, some with good food and some with amazing food. We found some rather intriguing things there and I’ll show you more in due course, Yoda was one of those ‘must photograph’ things we saw.

As you can see from the photo below, The Western Wall is a fairly important place in Jewish history and Jewish culture. The religious feel it important to have decorum and appropriate clothing there, important enough that they will sell you clothing to cover your shoulders and possibly skirts as you walk down. No-one stopped me and made me wear a skirt but I did have loose trousers on so I don’t know if they just don’t push the point or if my trousers were loose enough to get by.

Bookshops!!! Steimatzky’s is very much like Collins Books or Dymocks or even Angus & Robertson’s, they have branches in so many places. I refrained from taking photos of every single one as I knew I’d never remember which photo was which but I took one nighttime photo.

This next photo I took at the Jerusalem Botanical Gardens. One thing I’ve wanted for a very long time is to take a tour of a botanical gardens with my guide being someone who knew what was what. My OH just happens to be related to a retired director of the Jerusalem Botanical Gardens who arranged to take us there after hours! This signage is in three languages: Hebrew; Arabaic and; English…hence the triangular shape.

And just so you can see a Steimatzky’s in daylight I took this as well. Most of the books are in Hebrew, they do have an area with books in English. We bought a couple of music CDs at this shop rather than books.
