Don’t make the same mistake as I did today. Check your calendar the night before so you know where, when and who you’re seeing. Thank goodness my appointment messaged me half an hour before to confirm. Not so good was that I had a 20 minute drive and I hadn’t had a shower yet. I was only 10 minutes late. But the problems that caused as I went from one appointment to another and then continued on and on until finally getting onto the computer after 5pm. My apologies for posting this late, all I can say is mea culpa.

Combined with the slow and intermittent internet we’ve started having this week it means I’m even more behind on uploading. I’ve just tried again and it spent 10 minutes uploading one photo only to tell me it was too big, it wasn’t even that big. Now I’ve finished complaining I’m going to scribble a few words about something dear to my heart.

Actually, it’s a person and an idea all in one. You know I have an all abiding passion for cosplay even though I do little of it myself. So, one day I’m happily wasting time on the Facebook page of the Melbourne Cosplay Community when I see a post by a guy talking about a new type of cosplay. It’s meta-cosplay as he dressed himself up with reels of thread, needles, safety pins and a number of other useful items before going to the next convention and providing assistance for people whose costumes were falling apart.

Captain Patch-It has since been to many conventions, has Patcheteers around the world and they even manage to have an area allocated to them at the conventions.

He was very busy at Oz Comic Con in Melbourne, even taking a bit of time to do a little talk about how to make repairs on the run with few materials. It’s an awesome thing to have this happen. With the cushion he demonstrated an invisible stitch.

  1. Wish I’d seen his talk. I did avail myself of a needle and thread on Sunday as a button fell off my suit as I walked in to the Con.

    1. He was interesting, I learned a thing or two now I just need to actually remember them.
