It’s been a momentous few days. 10 days ago we opened for business and already have 23 members! What rubbish could I possibly be spouting now? For a change, it’s not rubbish but useful stuff. I floated an idea with the book bloggers on our Facebook group a couple of months ago and we’ve ended up with Book Bloggers Australia. Basically, it’s a home for Australian book bloggers, a place you can call your own and connect with other like-minded bloggers.

I have nothing against other blogging organisations such as Digital Parents but everyone there seems to have a different focus to book bloggers. I’ve tried getting more readers doing some of the things they suggest and they don’t work for me. I’ve tried joining discussions on their forum and find the topics don’t fit my blog. Sharing these experiences with other book bloggers and I found like-minded people who also had issues with Digital Parents and ProBlogger. The focus with so many of their topics is to increase readers and money out of their blogs. This is so much harder with book blogging and needs to be looked at rather differently. This is why we needed our own organisation.

I’ve been inviting publishers and authors to join us too as they might be struggling to find the right blogger to review their book. I mean, there’s no point sending me a romance book as I’ll not bother doing more than reading the back cover and they’re not going to get any writing out of me.

The website is made up of two things: a Directory and a Forum. Marg was kind enough to let us have the information from her previous Australian Book Bloggers Directory so we’ve started off with a really good base of blogs.

If you’re a reader and haven’t had enough of book blogs try our Directory. Book Bloggers, authors and publishers should also go to the forum and sign up. Discussions are happening and I’m trying to add a different topic for thought every couple of days.
