If you visit here frequently you might have noticed some days when I’ve missed blogging. I do try to write Monday to Friday but it has been rather challenging of late, what with the Third Australian Discworld Convention in Sydney and Passover I’ve had trouble finding the time to write. I have managed to locate Squid Ink and he was back yesterday celebrating Aussie Author Month.

Things are going to be equally challenging until I finish my current book. As I mentioned earlier in the year, I’m studying English Literature. We’re in the middle of working on The Freedom of the City by Brian Friels and as soon as we’ve finished that we’ll be working on Bleak House by Charles Dickens. All is going to plan except that I find anything by Dickens very hard going. My teacher suggested we read two chapters a day and we’d be on track to be finished and ready to start studying in good time. This was a week and a half ago and I didn’t get the book until Tuesday of this week. I’m doing my best but it’s a hard slog, I do wonder if I’ll make it in time. We’ll be looking at this book in conjunction with the TV series so I’m thinking I might also buy that so I can watch it. What I’m heading towards is that I won’t be reading any other books between now and finishing Bleak House. I do have a few book reviews waiting to be done, I will try not to do them all at once.

Until a few weeks ago I used to participate in Teaser Tuesday hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. I had issues with that meme. One of the problems is that people don’t say what genre the book is from and it’s not always clear from the Teaser or the cover so I worried about putting romance on my To Be Read list. I don’t want to buy or borrow a book only to find out it’s all about romance, it’s just not my thing. I was also having trouble with some people’s comment systems. I like to use my name/url when commenting on other people’s blogs, I could use my Open ID but I prefer my name/url. So many blogs don’t have that option. They have lots of other options which I won’t use, Facebook login for instance, I don’t trust Facebook’s security measures so I rarely use that outside Facebook. I have Disqus on this blog and I’m considering disabling it as I’ve heard so many negative things about it, I don’t know how many people have wanted to comment here and been frustrated by Disqus. It’s something I’m considering but not yet done as I’ve had a lot of spam recently and the numbers are going up not down, I look at Disqus and feel it’s dealing with the spam nicely so it still has some use.

If Squid Ink is able to continue then I’ll only have to write four days. Plus writing for my other blog and the other writing I’m doing for other people. I think I’m sort of busy.
