My brilliantly aptly distractingly named new series continues. Where I randomly select two books from my shelves and attempt to find a link. I do not promise it will be a good link, only that it will be a link. It might be anything at all. One thing I do promise is that the link will not be due to the books both containing words such as ‘and’ or ‘the’, although having said that it’d be really awesome to now find two books totally missing both of those words.
The books I chose last week were The Family with Two Front Doors by Anna Ciddor and Magwitch by Michael Noonan. Stay tuned to find out if I’ve actually got a link.
The Books
The Family With Two Front Doors is a lovely book. I’d suggest it fits perfectly in the creative non-fiction subject I completed recently. There are good facts, some lovely imagining and it’s all wrapped up beautifully.
Magwitch is fan fiction. This edition was published in 1982. Essentially, it’s the story of Pip’s travels to Australia following Magwitch’s death in jail in England. Magwitch? A character in Charles Dickens’ Great Expectations. I suspect this is another of those books I’ve had on my shelf for many years and not read.
The Link
At first glance these books have nothing in common. They’re different formats one being softcover and the other hardback. One is creative nonfiction, the other is fiction. They were both on my shelf; that has to be a commonality! Where am I going with this? Not much further. It seems both authors are Australian. Yep! That’s my link today. I’d love to have a better one but I seem to have mislaid all my ideas from last week.

Next week we have some interesting books. Freelancing in the Creative Industries by Karen le Rossignol and Claire Rosslyn Wilson and Verandah Volume Nine. I have ideas already, the challenge will be to remember them for a whole week.
