My brilliantly aptly named new series continues. Where I randomly select two books from my shelves and attempt to find a link. I do not promise it will be a good link, only that it will be a link. It might be anything at all. One thing I do promise is that the link will not be due to the books both containing words such as ‘and’ or ‘the’, although having said that it’d be really awesome to now find two books totally missing both of those words.
The books I chose last week were Thud! by Terry Pratchett and New Zealand published by Lonely Planet. Stay tuned to find out if I’ve actually got a link.
The Books
Thud! by Terry Pratchett is one of those must read books. Just ignore that I say this about many of Pratchett’s books. It’s all about stopping a war before it happens, although some people would say it’s about solving a murder and others would say it’s about being a good parent and reading a story to your child.
New Zealand published by Lonely Planet. This is one of those books you must buy/borrow before you visit. I love the Lonely Planet books and whenever we go overseas we buy the new edition for that country.
The Link
The link today comes via someone else. Today’s selection is an excellent illustration of the randomness of my choices. When I was complaining about it last week my listener suggested both books are about travel. New Zealand is obvious as it’s about travelling around New Zealand but Thud is a little less obvious. Commander Sam Vimes travels from Ankh Morpork to Koom Valley in order to investigate the circumstances surrounding a death in Ankh Morpork. Yes, there is a link between those two locations but you’ll have to read the book in order to understand. This week I’ve managed to give you links to both books so you can click through and look or buy from the photos.

Next week but I’ll do my best or worst. We’ve got The Spider Goddess by Tara Moss and Shackleton’s Epic by Tim Jarvis. I’ve taken both books from my To Be Read pile so there’s the added challenge there of finding a link when I’ve not read either of them.
