My brilliantly aptly named new series continues. Where I randomly select two books from my shelves and attempt to find a link. I do not promise it will be a good link, only that it will be a link. It might be anything at all. One thing I do promise is that the link will not be due to the books both containing words such as ‘and’ or ‘the’, although having said that it’d be really awesome to now find two books totally missing both of those words.
The books I chose last week were Giants of Literature: Dickens and The Enemy by Charlie Higson. Stay tuned to find out if I’ve actually got a link.
The Books
Giants of Literature: Dickens is one of those books you buy then regret not having seen before. It’s all about Charles Dickens and his life, it’d be awesome for writing critical essays about his life or works. And I find it interesting that my thinking is reduced to critical essays. I can’t give you a link to buy as it’s not available new any more.
The Enemy by Charlie Higson is one of those newish brand of zombie literature, I’d suggest it’s also young adult as all the characters are under 15. It’s scary and it’s part of a series and I want to find out how the story finishes. I’ve given you a link to buy, at least click through on the photo, I get very excited when I see clicks.
The Link
As I glance through the books to find a link I find an extremely tenuous one forming in my mind, the very tendrils of the link telling me exactly how tenuous it is. And yet I find myself with fingers to keyboard trying not to talk about it. Seriously, as this is what this article is about, here is a potential link.
Dickens lived in a time before medical science had really taken hold. Some of the poorer people with health problems they couldn’t have dealt with and who only managed to eat occasionally might potentially have resembled zombies.
