Trouble Half-Way - Jan Mark
Product Information Trouble Half-Way - Jan Mark Amy is eagerly awaiting the competition for the Inter-Schools Junior Gymnastic Sheild. she isn't quite in the team but is first reserve and is fairly hopeful that Debra's ankle won't be better in time for the competition. Suddenly events at home shake all Amy's quiet plans. Grandad is rushed into hospital for an emergency operation and her mother hurries away to be with him. Amy's new stepfather, Richard, insists that she can't stay at home alone but must accompany him on his lorry delivery round: Amy is furious. It will mean missing the gymnastics competition! What's more, it will mean doing something unconventional and Amy can always see reasons against doing that. A neighbour has accused her of meeting trouble half-way. So Amy finds herself on an unusual, and often very amusing, lorry ride through England. It's a rich and entertaining journey and Amy soon finds that the outside world doesn't only present troubles to be met but also offers real adventures and a chance to win a new self-confidence. I read a few pages of this book in order to categorise it and noticed two problems Amy has: how to thank her step-father for a gift; and what to call him. It's a big problem, what do you call your step-father, he's not your dad so you can't call him Dad and it might be rude to use his first name. I hope Amy finds the solution to both of these problems. This hardcover volume was published in 1985 by Viking Kestrel. It is ex-library and includes plenty of stickers and stamps. The dustjacket has been covered in plastic to prevent any further damage as a part of the back has disappeared. The book has general shelf wear.
