A Little Fear - Patricia Wrightson

A novel for teenagers from the plethora of talented Australian authors.

$15.00

The Njimbin watched from its camp and brooded.  It had lived among people for years without any trouble and now this old woman had moved in, invading its territory and upsetting its control.  And she had a dog, too!  There was nothing the Njimbin hated more than dogs.

Mrs Tucker put down her bags and surveyed the deserted cottage: a broken-down fence, an overgrown vegetable garden and a derelict chicken run.  There was certainly work to be done, but she had her dog, Hector, for company and it was better than being pensioned off in an old people’s home.

But as soon as Mrs Tucker set to work things started to go wrong.  Something was making Hector angry; something that worried the chickens, turned them out of their run and made fires in the fowlhouse.  It was small and dark and ancient and it was challenging her, trying to drive her from the land with its terrible powers.

This hardcover volume was published 1983 by Hutchinson Australia which makes it a first edition.  It is ex-library with appropriate stickers and stamps.  The dustjacket is covered in clear plastic.
