Squid Ink and Whiskey Galore

Oh dear, who let Squid Ink loose on my bookshelves. Whiskey Galore is a comedy set in WWII. A ship is stranded in the Outer Hebrides, the inhabitants of the nearby island help to rescue the sailors and then the contents, 144 dozen bottles of whiskey. They get up to some relatively clean fun including the engagement of young George to the gorgeous Catriona. The whiskey helps. It’s a wonderfully fun book with a movie made in 1949 starring Gordon Jackson as George.
